ABOUT US

     It all started in 1937 when Harry Takken opened a small shoe repair shop in San Luis Obispo, California. As a skilled cobbler, Harry built a loyal following by focusing on craftsmanship, quality, and of course, customer service.  
     In the years that followed, Harry’s son, Robert, helped transform the family business. Under Robert’s leadership, Takken’s expanded beyond repair, first into western boots and later into work footwear, building the foundation for the trusted name we are today. The business is deeply rooted in the  Central Coast community and that's why generations of families have trusted Takken's to provide them with top-quality products at great prices.  Additionally, customers know that Takken's stands behind the quality and workmanship of every product in their stores.  

    In 2016, Takken’s welcomed Carr’s Boots and Western Wear into the family. Carr’s Boots,  a long-stadning business in Santa Maria California, is a business rich in western tradition with a shared dedication to outfitting hard-working men and women. Together, the two names continue to honor the legacy upon which they were founded nearly a centtury ago:   quality, crafsmanship, and service you can depend on.
